Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey Review

Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey Review

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey is a Slasher movie directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield which was highly anticipated in 2023. Many people were excited to see Winnie the Pooh ( for some their favorite childhood character ) turn into a brutal and fearless killer. The Movie starts with a little animated prologue with a narrator setting the tone for what will come. This intriguing animation explains to the audience why the characters will be much darker versions of the ones we already know from A. A. Milne's - creator of the original Winnie-the-Pooh - version of the story. The main victims of this movie are 5 girls on a getaway trip and Christopher Nolan who get hunted by Pooh and Piglet.

Unfortunately, the little animated prologue is the best thing about this movie. The cast, the music, the tension and the kills all sum up to be generic and boring. For starters, the cast consists of 5 girls who are very unmemorable and uninteresting, none of them offer anything unique or clever. The plot is also very wobbly and badly done. None of it is even remotely interesting and it has almost nothing to do with Winnie The Pooh. Even other vital aspects like music and the kills aren't well done. The movie is followed by basic music which is so generic it doesn't even add to the ambiance. The kills are also nothing of note, mostly being the standard ones you would expect in every slasher ever.

Another reason why the movie missed the mark is because it does not really represent the original characters of A. A. Milne in almost any way. Even Christopher Nolan plays an irrelevant role and is only seen briefly in the beginning and end of the movie. There was a huge missed opportunity to add funny kills or voice lines which are inspired by the original Winnie The Pooh. If you'd removed the masks from the killers, it would have just been a very low-budget slasher with no creativity. The lack of effort to create something interesting with these characters demonstrates why this movie is as bad as it is.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey is a missed opportunity to add an interesting horror spin to Winnie Pooh's original story and failed to deliver an exciting and fun experience. Due to the interesting concept of the movie, it turned out to be a financial success and even aired in multiple cinemas. Due to this success, Rhys Frake Waterfield already released Winnie the Pooh; Blood and Honey part 2 in early 2024.
